"Lasting Charms" Solo Exhibition
January 12, 2023

详情请访问artsafesg.com。

The solo exhibition by Guangzhou-born Singaporean artist Fan Shao Hua showcases over 50 artworks at the expansive ArtSafe space. The display, however, lacks strong curation, with no captions and a loose arrangement of themes such as Singaporean life, flowers, and nature.

Fan, who won the UOB Painting of the Year award in 2000, is particularly skilled at depicting portraits of everyday individuals, making these works the highlights of the show. Notable pieces include a series featuring samsui women, where he captures their weathered expressions and muscular limbs, celebrating these pioneering figures. Another standout is a lively depiction of a crowd watching street opera, where a playful baby in a sling makes direct eye contact with the viewer, adding a touch of whimsy.

The exhibition runs until February 28 at ArtSafe Exhibition Hall, Level 3 U-Freight Logistics Centre. It’s open Monday to Saturday, from 11am to 6pm, with free admission. More details are available at artsafesg.com.
